I started by looking at real viking shields and how they put together. The base, trim, hired, butt, and nuts. When When starting creating the shield I use this cylinder and took up the side panels and extruded the center of the circle on top of the cylinder into the middle, however this created a finalise space in the middle of the circle.I had trouble creating the butt in the middle of the shield to start with as I tried to extruded it from the main shield. I then had difficulties with a extra vertices creating the shield to collapse when a smoothed. Although I struggled with creating the shield was a success in the end and I am vastly improve my skill in Maya.
